From the first leather selection to the final quality check: every step in our process is thoughtful. The result is a bag that is not only beautiful, but that lasts for years and only gets more beautiful with time.
The Leather Selection
Everything starts with choosing the right leather. We work exclusively with high-quality European leather — from soft nappa to robust croco leather. Each piece is inspected by hand for colour, texture and quality.
The choice of leather determines the character of the bag. A vintage mammouth tells a different story than a sleek black croco leather. Juul only selects leather that meets the highest standards.
Pattern & Cutting
Using self-designed patterns, each piece of leather is cut with precision. There is no room for error — one wrong cut and the entire hide is lost.
This is where years of experience make the difference. Juul knows the properties of each type of leather and adapts her technique to the direction of the grain, the thickness and the natural characteristics of the material.
Assembly & Stitching
The cut parts are assembled by hand and then stitched on a professional industrial sewing machine. Every seam is double-stitched for maximum strength.
Hardware such as buckles, snap buttons and zippers are attached one by one. This is the moment when the bag truly takes shape — from loose pieces of leather to a recognisable Atelier Jumé silhouette.
Finishing & Quality Control
The edges are finished and polished by hand. Every bag undergoes an extensive quality check: seams, hardware, lining and leather are inspected one by one.
Only when everything is perfect is the bag packed and shipped. The result: a handmade masterpiece that lasts for generations and becomes more beautiful with each passing day.
